Terroir Artisan Chocolate

Terroir Artisanal Chocolates is a celebration of flavour, origin and craftsmanship. A small boutique where cacao stories come to life in the heart of Beverley, Yorkshire.

The journey began far earlier than the shop itself.


Our founder and chocolatier, Mayara Zanote, grew up watching her mother handcraft chocolates in a tiny atelier. Easter seasons were spent shaping bonbons, wrapping truffles, and discovering the quiet magic that transforms cacao into joy. That early connection never faded.

Years later, after studying Agronomy and exploring cacao origins across Brazil and the Amazon, Mayara found her way back to chocolate. This time with deeper purpose and a devotion to terroir. What started with just £2,000 and five moulds slowly grew into Terroir: a brand rooted in origin, ethics and emotion.

In 2025, Terroir earned nine medals at the Academy of Chocolate Awards, becoming the most awarded chocolatier of the year in the Filled Bonbons category. A milestone that brought pride, gratitude and renewed inspiration.

Today, every piece created at Terroir reflects that same passion:
respect for the land, appreciation for the people behind each cacao bean, and the belief that chocolate should carry both flavour and feeling.

Now, as Terroir Artisanal Chocolates, we remain dedicated to creating unique artisanal chocolates, crafted with passion, care, and attention to every detail. Our refreshed identity reflects our commitment to flavour, beauty, and memorable experiences.

What This Means for You

Despite the change in name and branding, our commitment to quality and innovation remains steadfast. Our Chef Chocolatier, Mayara Zanote, continues to lead the creative process, exploring new flavours and refining our recipes to ensure every chocolate from Terroir is as special as ever.
